Singer/songwriter Hilary Williams, granddaughter to Hank Williams Sr. and daughter of Hank Williams Jr., is no stranger to the art of legendary music. Audrey and White’s Mercantile. We asked Hilary a little about what went into designing her fragrance and her inspiration for her debut album “My Lucky Scars.”
What motivated you to start your own line?
When I was recovering from my tragic car accident, my massage therapist introduced me to essential oils that helped with my healing and recovery. It was life-changing.
What do you love most about your fragrance, Curatìf Divinity?
It’s made by hand with love and has been blessed. I’m also thrilled with how the packaging turned out and that it’s environmentally friendly.
What inspired the name, “Curatìf Divinity”?
Curatif means curative “healing” in French, and divinity means “the state or quality of being divine, or a whole being.” This perfume smells divine and makes you feel like a goddess.
Explain what “Holistic Perfume” is in your own words:
Holistic is a balanced mind, body and spirit, a lifestyle that I strive to live by. I chose to live my life and heal my body through natural remedies. Out of this journey, I discovered all-natural oils and aromatherapy. Holistic thinking is viewing the complex-self as a whole body. It takes into account its purpose, its environment and its intention. Holistic perfume is all-natural, no synthetics, parabens or emulsifiers. It’s more than just a perfume—it’s a business philosophy.
Tell us about why the particular oils were chosen for your blend?
Coriander is very calming to the body, while Bergamot helps with depression and is uplifting and refreshing. It helps to radiate love energy. Neroli offers the gift of strength and courage that helps us see life’s beauty. Rose is stimulating and elevating to the mind, creating a sense of well-being, and its beautiful fragrance is almost intoxicating and aphrodisiac-like. I’m adding a coffee scrub called Curatìf Revive. It will be made with fair trade ground coffee, brown sugar, emu oil, coffee berry extract, orange and peppermint oil. All ingredients are very healing to the skin. My goal is to add more scents and products down the line, as well.
Do you use natural or holistic skin/bath/body products in your other routines? If so, what are a few of your favorite brands and/or products?
I love Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop skincare line and her bath salts. I also love Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish and May Lindstrom’s The Blue Cocoon Beauty Balm Concentrate. Both are great for sensitive skin and getting rid of redness. Not to mention they’re very hydrating.
You’ve recently also launched a music career. What piece of advice do you have for those in business or entertainment that want to create side businesses or products of their own?
Follow your heart and intuition. Take a leap of faith and surround yourself with like-minded people who have the same beliefs and philosophies.
