Cheers to 30 years! Sunday in the Park 2019’s co-chairs, Jay Joyner, Trisi Larish and Tori Wimberly created a wonderful luncheon to celebrate this milestone year. They must have bribed mother nature – the weather was beautiful. The three chairs with the assistance of Hugh Howser who served on the decor committee, designed an autumn oasis on top of Edwin Warner Park’s Ridge Field where guests enjoyed cocktails and lunch. After guests were seated they were welcomed by Friends of Warner Park board president, Kevin Roddey which was followed with remarks from Friends of Warner Park Executive Director, Jenny Hannon. For the invocation Warner Parks retired superintendent, Bob Parrish read “The Foolish Owl and His Fiend, the Half-Blind Hawk”.
Guests dined on an autumn luncheon by The Clean Plate Club. The first course was an autumn vegetable salad served with a house made cracker with bacon marmalade. The entree was a grilled Hereford filet with horseradish cafe butter and tobacco onions, heirloom grits with smoked cheddar, roasted fall vegetables and bread service with buttermilk drop biscuits, sweet potato biscuits, sweet corn muffins and zucchini oatmeal bread. Dessert was hazelnut dacquoise with malt anglaise and caramel sauce and coffee service. Prayers of Saints chardonnay and 14 Hands merlot was served with lunch courtesy of Lipman Bros. The gorgeous fall florals were from The Tulip Tree. After lunch guests were treated to cookies and grasshoppers shots in the bar area that was designed by co-chair, Tori Wimberly and constructed by Ken Warrington. Did anyone say after party?
